Managing Vehicle Types (01:57)

Back to tutorials

Welcome to another Dome tutorial, this video will show you how to manage the vehicle types in your system, for example, a car, a motorbike, a passenger-carrying vehicle and a heavy goods vehicle.

To access the ‘Vehicle types’ menu, click ‘Manage’, highlight ‘Vehicles’ and then click on the ‘Vehicle types’ sub-menu.

Displayed in front of you will be a list of all the Vehicle types in your system. Depending on the size of your organisation these Vehicle types may be over a couple of pages. To find the record more quickly, use the search bar located in the top left corner of the page. There is also a drop-down menu to show only active and/or inactive vehicle types.

To create a new Vehicle type, click the ‘New’ button in the bottom left corner. A dialogue box will appear, to create a new Vehicle type.

  • Enter the vehicle type name
  • Tick to make it the default system vehicle type if desired.
  • And input a PentiP export code if available.

The speed limits tab displays all of the speed limits associated with a vehicle type.  ‘Speed limits’ and ‘road types’ can be entered using the manage locations sub-menu.

The ‘Name’ field is mandatory and will not let you save your progress without completing it. When you are finished. Click ‘Save’ or if you want to continue adding more vehicle types to the system, click ‘Save and Continue’.

Editing a Vehicle type is the same process, only instead of clicking on the ‘New’ button, you simply click on the vehicle type you wish to edit.

Administrators can also delete or deactivate multiple Vehicle types. To do this tick the radio button to the left of one or more of the Vehicle types and click the ‘Delete’ or ‘Deactivate’ button in the bottom left corner.

Finally, administrators may wish to export a list of the Vehicle types on the system. To do this simply click the ‘Excel’ icon in the bottom left.
