Back to tutorials
Welcome to another Dome tutorial, this video will show you how to manage the reporting templates in your system.
To access the reporting functionality, click on the ‘Reports/Stats’ menu, Highlight ‘Reports’ and then click the ‘Manage’ sub-menu.
A blank report template will be displayed with the reporting fields available listed on the left-hand side.
In the top left, you will see a drop-down menu. This will list all the existing report templates in your system. If you would like to edit an existing template it can be selected from this menu.
I am now going to show you how to create a brand-new template.
On the left of the screen, you will see a list of all the reporting fields. The drop-down menu, just above the list, groups these reporting fields into categories, making the field you want to use easier to find.
I am going to create a report on the cameras in the Dome system. To get started I will drag and drop the camera name field into the report. I can either get to this field by scrolling through the list or selecting ‘camera’ from the category name drop-down menu. The filter drop-down gives multiple options to apply filters to your results. For this example, I will leave this option unchanged.
The next reporting field I will select is a ‘count’ field. Count fields are used to count the number of entries in your database for certain data, such as offences. The fields I will be using are ‘number of films’ and ‘number of offences’.
Once I have selected the fields to include in the report, I can preview the results by clicking the preview button. In the preview window, you can also show the results of the report in the Dome’s inbox. Report results can also be exported to Microsoft Excel by clicking on the ‘Excel’ icon. Once the data is in Excel you can use its extensive features to further analyse the results.
If the report is not displaying the data you expected, or you wish to amend it, click the ‘back’ button to return to the report builder.
To save your report, name it in the bottom left corner and click the ‘save’ button. You may wish to assign reports against certain permission groups. To do this click the permission group box in the top right and click the permission groups you wish to assign your created report.
